Y6 Residential Blog – Day 3: The Final Chapter at Peat Rigg

Our final day at Peat Rigg began bright and early, with the children waking up excited – though perhaps a little sleepier than previous mornings and Mr E needed to increase the volume of his 7:15 wake-up call to get some children out of bed! After a good night’s rest and another full, tasty breakfast (with plenty of toast, cereal, and some very popular sausages), we began preparing for our journey home.
Once rooms were tidied, bags packed, and belongings double-checked (and then triple-checked for lost clothes in the drying room and wet shoes on the rack!), it was time for the children to head off into their groups for one final activity. By this point in the trip, the sense of teamwork had really shone through. It’s been a joy to watch each group grow stronger, with every child stepping up to support one another, solve challenges together, and cheer each other on.
And then – it was time for the grand finale: the legendary Peat Rigg Scavenger Hunt! With energy reserves running low (or so we thought), the children were put through their paces in a series of quests, tasks and questions to complete around the Peat Rigg site. It was the perfect way to end the adventure – full of spirit, and friendly competition.
Soon after, the coach arrived to take us back home. Before boarding, we gathered for a few final group photos – a perfect way to capture the smiles, team building, and sense of accomplishment that had built over the past three days.
As we waved goodbye to Peat Rigg, we didn’t just leave with muddy shoes and full suitcases – we returned with new skills, a fresh sense of confidence, and a treasure trove of happy memories. What a trip it’s been!
Enjoy the rest over the weekend everybody.
