Peat Rigg Residential Day 3 – Final Adventures at Peat Rigg

Peat Rigg Residential Day 3 – Final Adventures at Peat Rigg
The children woke up on their final morning at Peat Rigg and, once again, enjoyed a full and tasty breakfast to prepare them for the day ahead. Although there were a few tired faces after two action-packed days already, excitement was still high as everyone got ready for their final activities.
Once rooms had been tidied, bags packed and accommodation emptied, the children returned to their groups for one last challenge of either zipwire, Jacob’s Ladder, bushcraft, caving or low ropes. Over the course of the residential, it has been wonderful to see friendships grow and confidence flourish. By the final day, every group has been seen working together brilliantly, showing fantastic support, encouragement and camaraderie throughout each activity and as always a determination to give it a go.
To complete our residential, we thought it only fitting that we finish with the final activity of the trip being a whole Year group task – the famous Peat Rigg Olympics! The Peat Rigg staff put the children through a series of fun, physical and slightly competitive team challenges designed to test whether anyone had any energy left after three busy days. From opening ceremonies, relay races to teamwork tasks, there was plenty of laughter along the way — especially when the children discovered they would need to ‘wang’ their wellies as far as they could rather than wear them, and us lifejackets as a pair of pants.
Before long, the coach arrived ready to take everyone home. There was just enough time for some final group photos and a chance to say goodbye to the staff (including Ned the dog) and surroundings that had made the trip so memorable.
As we waved goodbye to Peat Rigg, we left with new skills learnt, a real sense of achievement and many happy memories that will stay with us for years to come. What a fantastic three days it has been!
