Year 5 Residential Day One

What an exciting start to our Newby Wiske residential! This morning began with lots of very excited children arriving at school, each with bags big enough for a two-week all inclusive holiday. The buzz of anticipation was everywhere as we got ready to set off.

A huge thank you to Mr Osborne, Ms Chang and Mr Hemming for helping us load the coach (no easy task with so many enormous suitcases!).

We set off under beautiful blue skies with fluffy white clouds following us along the way. The journey was filled with chatter, laughter and plenty of excitement about the adventures ahead.

When we arrived at Newby Wiske, we met our brilliant group leaders, Laura and Will, who welcomed us and helped us settle in. After that, we enjoyed our lunch outside in the fresh air before heading off for our first activities.

And what a start! The children jumped straight into climbing, orienteering, and even the giant swing; lots of bravery, teamwork and big smiles all around.

After a busy afternoon, everyone was ready for dinner. Tonight’s delicious options included chicken nuggets and wedges, lasagne with garlic bread, and a fantastic salad bar.

After taking part in our evening activities, we have now settled down for our first night’s sleep… here’s hoping we all manage to get some rest after such an exciting day!
