    Hi Year 2!
Welcome to the new comments thread. We’ll just be using this one from now on so don’t post anything on the blog as we might not see it.
Have you all been enjoying your Easter holidays (even though they were probably very different to what you had planned)? What have you all been doing? Have you been enjoying the sunshine? Have you been planting things in your gardens? Have you been cooking or baking? We’d love to hear what you’ve been up to. We’re missing you all lots and lots x

Hello Miss Johnson, Miss Slaney, Mrs Baker and Miss Garth – Its Isaac Nowland I hope you had a lovely easter.

      Hello Isaac,
I had a quiet but lovely Easter thank you! Did you? It’s fab that you’ve been able to play out so much, I’ve been on lots of walks in the sunshine over the last couple of weeks. Miss Johnson and I have both done some baking, what did you make? I made cupcakes and Miss Johnson has made biscuits and bread!!
Have you been dressing up to do Joe Wicks?
It’s very exciting that your sister Poppy will be starting school in September, is she looking forward to it?
I know you’ll work really hard Isaac and make us all very proud! Keep letting us know how you’re getting on, we love hearing from you!
      Love Miss Slaney xx

    • Mrs Baker says:

Hi Isaac glad you are having fun learning at home and also getting to go out for walk with your family. How exciting it will be for you to have your sister at school with you.
I think I might of seen you the other day when I was dropping off food to My Mum and dads house. Take care . Hope to see you soon .

  3. Isaac Nowland says:

Where did you go for a walk I β€˜ve been doing lots of exercise today

We baked buns and helped Daddy make Bolognese and home made garlic bread too ?

Poppy is very excited to start school at our school ???

  4. Miss Johnson says:

We hear that the White Rose website might have crashed this morning as so many people were trying to access it! If you struggle to access it then your parents might be able to get on via the White Rose maths Facebook page instead (thank you Ollie’s mum for the top tip!). Let us know how you get on with it.
    Miss Johnson

      Hi Eva,

Hope you are all well :):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):)

    • vjohnson says:

      Hi Daniel,
Oh wow! I’m jealous that you saw the satellites and a SHOOTING STAR!!! I looked out 2 nights ago and last night but I didn’t see them. You’re very lucky to have seen them. How amazing!
What are you up to today? Will you be outside in your garden and have you been doing some school work this morning?
      Miss Johnson πŸ™‚

      • Daniel T says:

Hi Miss Johnson. My mummy had to wake me up to see the SHOOTING STAR and things. I was very sleepy and had to put my dragon onesy on to stay warm. I have been doing all my homework. I did all my homework this morning so i can have a free afternoon with my family. We are going to be doing some hama beads and we will play in the garden. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

  7. vjohnson says:

    Hi Daniel,
That sounds like you’ve got the perfect balance between work and play there. It’s much easier to get your work done in the morning and then relax in the afternoon. That’s exactly what I’m trying to do too. Did you do Hama beads in the end or just play in the garden? It was lovely and warm this afternoon.
    Miss Johnson πŸ™‚

    • Daniel T says:

We did do hama beads ? and when we were doing hama beads we did one that said NHS on it with rainbow colours around it ? ?. We played in the garden too ?

  8. vjohnson says:

Daniel, that sounds great! Did you take a photo of your NHS Hama Beads? I’d love it if your mum could send me a photo so that I could put it onto our photos page.
Glad you’ve had a lovely day.
What have you thought of the White Rose Maths work this week by the way? Have you enjoyed it and learnt anything new? I think it was useful to revise counting in fractions.
    Miss Johnson πŸ™‚

    • Daniel T says:

My mummy has just emailed the photo to you ☺. I do like doing the new maths as well as TT Rock Stars ???? ?

      • vjohnson says:

        Hi Daniel,
Yes I received your photo and it should be up on the website very soon fingers crossed (I’m not clever enough at computers to do that bit myself!!). I enjoyed reading your mummy’s email about how many books you’re reading and the science you’ve been doing. I’ve replied πŸ™‚
        Miss J

  9. Anita Cwener says:

Hi Miss Slaney and Mrs Baker
I was very busy for the entire Easter. I did lots of arts and crafts for Easter with my mum. I do my balet lessons on zoom, I have done my learning log task for Charlie and the chocolate factory. I helped my mum cook and bake for Easter and I made chocolate. I will send you all the pictures of what I have done. And I can’t wait to come back to school and see the new dog and everyday I miss everybody more. πŸ™‚

    • Mrs Baker says:

Anita I am really impressed with your photos it looks like you have had lots of fun learning these past few weeks . Well done !!
Missing you all . Take care

  10. Chiara Tedde says:

Nicola did a spelling test correct and enjoy to study outside in the garden .

  11. Ollie T says:

    Hi Miss Johnson,

I’m going to run a marathon across a fortnight and I’ve raised Β£330 for the NHS already.

Lots of love from Ollie xxxxxx

    • vjohnson says:

      Hi Ollie,
Wow, I’m so impressed with that!! What an amazing idea! Is that part of the London Marathon 2.6/26 challenge I’m guessing. I’m not sure if there’s a way of you putting the link to your fundraising page on here, or maybe emailing it to me. I’d love to contribute πŸ™‚
You’ll certainly be doing your Daily Mile(s) over the next 2 weeks then! Great work.
      Miss Johnson πŸ™‚

  12. Ollie T says:

    Hi Miss Johnson,

We didn’t know about the London Marathon project but here’s my link: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/ollierunsamarathon

I’m on Β£670 now even though I only wanted to raise Β£100! I think people have been too generous!

    Love Ollie xxxxxx

    • vjohnson says:

Wow Ollie!!! That’s an amazing amount of money you’ve raised so far! I wonder if we can get you up to Β£1000 by the link being up here. Was it your idea to do it or Mummy and Daddy’s? I bet they are very proud of your determination and thoughtfulness. I’m certainly proud of you πŸ™‚
Best of luck with your running.
      Miss Johnson x

      • Ollie T says:

        Hi Miss Johnson,

It was my idea to do it but Mummy helped me set it up and stuff like that. We’re going to do our next run tomorrow and I do it with my daddy. We always go down Pinfold Lane and I really enjoy it.

Lots of love from Ollie xxxxxx

        • Ollie T says:

          Also, we’ve raised Β£725 already.

          • vjohnson says:

            Hi Ollie,
Β£725 is a great total and you’ve got another week to go haven’t you? I haven’t sponsored you yet either – I’ll make sure I do it this weekend. It’s a bit cooler to be running this week isn’t it, but I find it quite refreshing. I’m so proud of you that it was your idea to raise money for charity. Well done Ollie πŸ™‚
I’ve been in school today and we were talking about Pinfold Lane at lunchtime because neither Mrs Casling nor Mr Englefield have ever been to Paul’s Pond so Mrs Styrin and me were explaining how you get to it (down Pinfold Lane)! They both say they’ll go on a walk there soon and explore!
            Miss Johnson

          • vjohnson says:

Also Ollie – I’ve just seen your writing that your mum emailed to me! It’s fantastic. I can see lots of great verb, adjective and opener choices. I am also very impressed by your use of conjunctions to lengthen your sentences. Super handwriting too. Keep up the good work. I’ll get the work onto the photos page πŸ™‚

          • vjohnson says:

Ollie – over Β£1100 with a week still to go!! How fantastic! I’ve just donated and let the other teachers know about it too x

    Miss youuuuu

    • vjohnson says:

      Hi Jaidaa,
Lovely to hear from you on here! What art competition are you doing? Is it a website? You’re great at your art and it must be because you do so much practicing and you enjoy it so much. Well done. I saw your Golden Ticket acting on our Year 2 video – it was great!!
      I miss you lots too,
      Miss Johnson

      • yosra says:

yes it was an online art course for 2 weeks and i win πŸ™‚

        • vjohnson says:

          Jaidaa that’s amazing!! Huge congratulations!
I hope your dad brought home all your new reading books too. Enjoy reading them. If they are too easy for you then let me know.
          Miss Johnson

  14. Daniel T says:

    Hi Miss Johnson. I’ve been playing a game called Multiverse on Mathletics and I think its really good. I’m now a Junior Trader on it and I’ve got a medal! πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

    • vjohnson says:

That’s fantastic that you’ve found a new game on Mathletics Daniel!! What do you have to do on it to become a Junior Trader? It sounds like it’s something to do with money. Great work for earning a medal!!
I wonder if anyone else has found that game.
How did you get on with comparing lengths in the White Rose maths today? I did it with the children in school and they all found the final 2 part question really tricky.
      Miss Johnson

      • Daniel T says:

I got on well with the maths question yesterday. I added the numbers and got the right answer. To become a junior trader you answer maths questions and go up levels. Some questions you have to answer quickly because you’re timed. It’s nothing to do with money. Today I got another medal and I went up another level. I also played top trumps with George F on zoom and had a fun time ?????????????????????

        • vjohnson says:

Daniel that’s so good to hear that you’ve been playing Top Trumps with George F on Zoom πŸ™‚ I bet that was loads of fun!! What a good idea. I wish I could join in!!!
That’s great that you got another medal and moved up a level on the Junior Trader game too. It sounds like you’re really enjoying that game.
How are you getting on with your writing? Is your handwriting still as neat as it was in school before lockdown?

          • Daniel T says:

Hi Miss Johnson. My handwriting is still as neat as it was at school. I am trying my best. I didnt get all my spellings right today, I got some wrong. Sometimes when me and George were playing top trumps on zoom we got exactly the same card so neither of us won that one! I’ve also being playing treasure hunt on whatsapp with Toby. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

  15. Suzannah Stott says:

    Hi Miss Johnson,
Can you help us with today’s Maths questions please? Some of us Year 2 parents are a bit confused about questions 3 and 4!
In qu.3 we work out there are 6 children and we’re introduced to Ron and Eva.
In qu.4 we are given two more children; Amir and Whitney, and we’re told to put them in order. But we only have 4 children to put into 6 positions.
We watched the video, and they have introduced Annie (not sure where she came from – she’s not in the worksheet) and reduced the number of children to 5!
Is this a mistake or have we (all) missed something?
    Thank you!

    • vjohnson says:

      Hi all,
Thanks for getting in touch about the maths today. I actually did yesterday’s maths with the children in school, but today Mrs Styrin worked with the Year 2 children. However, I hear that she had exactly the same issue and Mrs Baker and Miss Russel couldn’t work it out either. We think it must be a mistake! I hope you weren’t all trying to work it out all morning πŸ˜‰
How is everyone finding the maths up until now? I thought yesterdays was tricky, but good learning about ‘difference, longer than and shorter than’, with a tricky 2 part question at the end. I think the videos are really good and I like the revision questions at the start of each day.
      Miss Johnson

  16. vjohnson says:

    Hi Daniel,
It didn’t give me the option to reply to your comment further up so I hope you find my reply at the bottom of the thread! I’m so pleased that you’re keeping up your beautiful handwriting. Well done Daniel! Maybe you’ll be able to get your pen licence in Year 3 with all the effort you’re putting in.
It’s great that you did your spellings and it’s fine that you got a couple wrong. They were tricky. As long as you know what you did wrong. Well done for doing them!
That’s funny that you and George sometimes got the same card in Top Trumps!! Which theme of Top Trumps do you like to play?
I’m intrigued to know how your treasure hunt on Whatsapp with Toby works. Can you explain it? It sounds like really good fun πŸ™‚
    Miss J

    • Daniel T says:

Hi Miss Johnson. Today I am dressed in my Luke Skywalker costume πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ George and I played top trumps Deadly Predators and also Marvel Avengers. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ In treasure hunt we took turns asking each other to go and find something, like I asked Toby to go and find something that flies and he ran off to find something and then brought it back to show me. Yesterday me and Toby played lego where you build a lego model and then you have to describe it to the other person without showing it to them, to see if they can also make the same thing just by me describing it. I made a slide. We both got one right and one not quite right, but it was really good fun! πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I hope you are having a nice time. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

      • vjohnson says:

Hi Daniel (or should I say Luke Skywalker!!),
It sounds like you’re having such a great time (virtually) with George and Toby! I know what you mean by a treasure hunt now. It’s similar to a Scavenger hunt. I did one of those with my Brownies via Zoom last Friday evening and they had to collect various things like a hat or something yellow or something that reminded them of lockdown! What would you choose for something that reminded you of lockdown?
Mrs Baker would like your lego game that you’ve been playing with Toby. It sounds really similar to the activities she does with the children who are in her lego club. I’ll have to tell her that you’ve been doing it online with your friends. It sounds very tricky. You must have to be very good at communicating and describing things accurately using the right words. It’s a great skill. People who work with people who are blind have to do a lot of that – trying to explain what they can see in detail, so that someone else can picture it in their mind.

I hope you’re enjoying the sunshine again this week and having lots more fun in your garden.

        Miss Johnson πŸ™‚

      • Mrs Baker says:

Daniel ,George and Toby I love how you have been doing Lego challenges like we do in Lego club !! Would love to see photos of your models !! I love Lego , Have you done any of the Lego challenges??

  17. The Camms says:

    Hi Miss Johnson
We loved watching your escape from school video and now Albie is singing the Benny Hill Theme Tune…. made us all smile
    Thanks

    • vjohnson says:

      Hi Camms!
Ha ha! That’s great that you enjoyed watching our video. If it brought a smile to all your faces then it’s done the job it was intended to do πŸ™‚ We enjoyed making it as well. I hope Albie isn’t singing the song for too long πŸ˜‰ … but keep smiling,
      Miss J

    • Mrs Baker says:

Really glad you liked it !! Xx

  18. Oliver Ingleson says:

Hi Miss Slaney and Miss Johnson

We hope you are all keeping well!
Oliver is enjoying the White Rose maths a lot! So much so he has done all this week’s activities this morning and he’s quicker than me at answering them!
He’s a lot less keen on writing any sentences but we get there eventually!
He says β€˜ Hi Miss Slaney I’m very excited about this weeks art project. I’m missing everyone very much but I’ve seen 6 of my friends when I’ve been out on walks with my family. I’m having lots of fun love from Oliver’

    • lslaney says:

      Hi Oliver,

Lovely to hear from you! We’re both very well thank you, we hope you are too.
I’m so glad you’re still enjoying your maths Oliver, you are very speedy at answering the questions! I’m sure you’ve done some fab English too. πŸ™‚ This topic is one of my favourites because of all the lovely art things we can do so I can’t wait to see your picture!
We’re missing everyone too and can’t wait to see you all but it’s lovely that you’ve managed to spot a few of your friends on your walks.
Keep having lots of fun and enjoy the sunshine!
Miss Slaney and Miss Johnson xx

  19. Ollie T says:

    Hi Miss Johnson,

Thanks for telling the all the teachers about running my marathon. Thank you very much for donating and for saying something nice on the comments page.

    How is your day going?

So far we’ve ran just a bit more than 16 miles.

Today I’ve done my Maths and I’m just about to do my English. We’ve also been playing Harry Potter and I’ve been playing with my water gun.

Are you working at school today because if you are could you tell me what Y2 children are doing?

Lots of love from Ollie xxxxxx

    • vjohnson says:

      Hi Ollie,

I’ve just looked again at your fundraising page to see how much you’d raised to date. Over Β£1400 now!! Wow! Fantastic job! Are your legs aching at all? I went on a 5k run just before lunch today. I always find that running cheers you up and clears your head, as well as being good for your body. And it gets a little bit easier the more you do it. I’m very pleased that you’ve had donations from teachers. I’ve just emailed your link to some more of the teachers so they might donate too if they’re able to.

I did lots of school work yesterday so today I gave myself the day off! I did a big food shop for myself and my parents who are over 70 and then did my run. I spend most of the afternoon enjoying the sun and reading – which is why I’m only just replying to your message at 10pm before I go to bed!!

Well done for doing your maths and your English as well as everything else. It was perfect weather for a water guns today too! I bet you had fun with that!

I was in school last week working with the 3 year 2 children who are in school from 2S. I think the children in school will have been doing much the same as you today. Maths and English this morning and playing outside this afternoon in the sunshine.

I also need to tell you that I’ve worked out that I know your ballet teacher – Miss Deborah (Hoskins). She’s actually doing the same Friday evening adult ballet class as me on Zoom! I’ll have to tell her this Friday that we have you in common πŸ™‚

Best of luck with your remaining miles Ollie. I’m virtually cheering you on every step of the way

      Miss Johnson x

      • Ollie T says:

        Hi Miss Johnson,

Thanks for your nice long reply and I’m so surprised that you actually do dance with Miss Deborah. I’m actually doing modern dance with her now and and ballet grade 1. I wish I could do the modern dance every day, it’s so good. It’s sort of a mix of stuff actually. We’re doing a big dance from Trolls. I started dancing with Miss Deborah when I was three! When I started the proper ballet classes, I was the only boy that did it and I was very nervous. I only started modern dance during lock down.

My legs normally ache around the middle of runs and also well done on your 5km run. That sounds very long!

What were you reading in the sun?

Thank you for your support with my running.

Lots of love from Ollie xxxxxx

        • vjohnson says:

          Hi Ollie,

I love modern dance too. It’s not as restrictive as ballet and in some ways it’s often more fun. I don’t do a lot of it nowadays but I should try and find time to fit it in. I sometimes do contemporary classes which can be similar to modern dance. Miss Deborah is a very good dancer and a lovely teacher. I’m really glad that you enjoy dancing so much. Being the only boy in the class when you started must have been daunting but it just means you’re extra special πŸ™‚

My legs always seem to feel tired for the first 5-10 minutes of running, but if I can keep going past that it seems to get a bit easier. But I only run for about 30 minutes usually. I’ve only twice done a 10k which takes me about an hour.

I’m reading a novel by JK Rowling who wrote Harry Potter (but it’s not Harry Potter). It’s a much thicker book than I’d normally read – 568 pages – but I thought I’d give it a go. I’m a pretty slow reader though so it’s taking me a long time to get through it, but I’m enjoying having the time to sit and read.

Best of luck with the remaining miles of your marathon πŸ™‚

          Miss Johnson x

  20. Cath Hellings says:

    Hello year 2
I have been very impressed with the photos you have sent in showing the amazing work you have been doing at home.
Well done and keep it up!

  21. Joshua Archibald says:

Hi It is Joshua. Hope everyone is ok. I have been doing lots of things at home. Soldering with my dad using a blow torch it was very very very hot. Wiring a plug using brown live green and yellow earth and blue nootral. On a sunday we have been doing street party with the neighbours for a chat. Tomorrow I am baking garlic bread and baking a salted caramel cheese cake with my dad.

    • vjohnson says:

      Hi Joshua,
So lovely to hear from you πŸ™‚ It’s put a big smile on my face!
Well I’m not surprised that you haven’t written on here much recently because you’ve clearly been EXTREMELY busy at home learning lots of amazing new skills! I’ve never used a blow torch so you’ve done something I’ve never done. I remember learning how to wire a plug once, but I’ve forgotten so that’s a great bit of DIY to learn too. Plus your baking skills are clearly improving quickly also. I haven’t attempted to make garlic bread yet. You’ll have to let me know your recipe if yours tastes nice and I’ll try and make it myself. Salted caramel cheese cake sounds scrumptious! Your dad is clearly having a fantastic time teaching you so many things. You’ll be highly skilled when we get back to school!
Are you having a street party for VE day tomorrow? Enjoy it if you do and tell me all about what you did.
      Miss Johnson πŸ™‚

  22. Joshua Archibald says:

Hi this is Joshua speaking here no we didn’t have a ve street party because it was not good weather on sunday. the salted caramel cheese cake was absolutely delicious, amazing and for the garlic bread to. On Saturday morning I am getting a puppy it’s a cockapoo boy when my mum and dad told me that we are getting a puppy I felt amazed and I was jumping around for about 2minutes we don’t know what we are going to call him he is going to be my best friend forever and ever on Friday night I hosted a zoom chat with my family I made 5 questions and my brother made 5 questions to my mum’s friends none of the familys got the 5 out of 5.

    • vjohnson says:

      Hi Joshua,

A puppy!! Wow! How exciting! I’m pretty sure that our new school dog Poppy is a cockapoo too so you’ll know exactly how to treat her. You’ll LOVE having a dog. You’ll need to take him for walks and learn how to train him so that he behaves well. It will be a really fun thing to do while off school.
Your Zoom quiz sounds great. They must have been nice, tricky questions if none of your family got 5 out of 5. I bet you and your brother are super quiz masters. Miss Slaney, Miss Lillington and I did a music quiz together on Thursday evening via zoom. We got 34 out of 42 so that was pretty good.
What are your plans for this week?

      Miss Johnson πŸ™‚

  23. Joshua Archibald says:

Hi this is Joshua. No, I don’t really know if I have any plans but when I know I will tell you. Ok we decided we are going to call the puppy Milo Archibald. Do you miss school
Borris Johnson said on the first of June reception and year 1 and 6 might be going back to school .

  24. vjohnson says:

    Hi Josh,

Yes, let me know what you end up getting up to this week. I like finding out what all our class are doing to fill their days at home πŸ™‚ Milo Archibald is such a lovely name and I think will really suit your new puppy perfectly! Good choice.
I miss school, and all of our class, lots and lots πŸ™ I wish I could see you all and we could have a proper end to Year 2. We’ll have to keep our fingers crossed that we get some time altogether before the summer holidays but we just don’t know yet. It really depends how much the virus spreads and how sensible people are with staying socially distanced and not spreading it. Do you miss school?

Hi this is Joshua speaking are plans are to get ready for Milo to come to are family what are you doing today? In topic this week I am doing some first aid things and a tiny bit of French .Are you in school this week?

    • vjohnson says:

      Happy Thursday Joshua,
You’ll be so excited to get ready for Milo. What sort of things are you having to prepare for his arrival?
I went on a 5k run just before lunchtime and now I’m settling down at my laptop ready to type some more of 2J’s reports. I might stop in a couple of hours for a cup of tea and a slice of banana bread that I made yesterday. It’s yummy! Miss Slaney, Miss Lillington and I are doing an online music quiz after the clap for carers this evening so I’m looking forward to that!
I’m in school next Wednesday,Thursday and Friday. Miss Slaney is in this week.
Your topic work sounds really good. I hope you enjoy learning some First Aid. It’s super important!

      Miss Johnson πŸ™‚

  26. Joshua Archibald says:

Hi this is Joshua speaking well done Ollie for raising 2 thousand pounds and my mum works for the NHS so thank you very much indeed you should be very proud ? and many a bit exhausted ?

  27. Joshua Archibald says:

Yesterday after the clap for NHS and key workers my family and nana and grandad had a What’s app call to do s quiz we got 35 out of 50 which is pretty good I think is quite good .My brother really likes lockdown .On my tablet in the app gallery I have a picture of our class to remember that we will always be s class.

  28. vjohnson says:

    Happy Friday Joshua,
That’s an excellent score for your quiz! What types of questions were they? Was it music or sport or TV or a mixture of topics? What type of questions are you best at answering do you think?
That’s so lovely that you have a picture on your tablet of our class and a good idea to help to remember everyone. You will always be a special class for me because I’ll remember you as my ‘lockdown’ class forever and the class I taught for 2 years! We will take another class photo of us all together as soon as we are able to I promise. I bet you’ll all have grown a lot since I last saw you!!

Have a great weekend Josh πŸ™‚

    Miss Johnson

  29. Joshua Archibald says:

Hi this is Joshua speaking here there was a bit of every thing really to be honest I got rightl which was Katy Perry firework and I adore singing and I love that song. Milo is setiling in good this morning I came down in my onesie bit I didn’t realise that it is the same material as his bed he rags and pulls his bed so he did that to my lovely onesie which was so annoying.
This week on Wednesday I am baking short bread which will be very tasty for sure.

    • vjohnson says:

      Hi Joshua!
Oh no – your poor onesie! Are you still able to wear it or has he made holes in it? Are you going to start training Milo yet or is he still a bit young for that? You’ll have to talk to Mr Wilkinson about dogs chewing things. His dog Bruno gets up to lots of mischief!! I bet you’re enjoying cuddles with Milo too though.
Shortbread is great to make and tastes so lovely and buttery. I’m sure you’ll enjoy doing that and you can practice your maths measuring skills at the same time by reading the scales.
      Have a fun Monday,
      Miss Johnson πŸ™‚

  30. Darcey Curbison says:

To Miss Johnson I am wearing school clothes today
because it makes me feel like I am at school. How
have you been getting on. I’ve been growing my own
pea plant me and my mum have planted them in a
bigger plant pot and tied them to green stick ill send
you a picture if you want.

    • vjohnson says:

      Hi Daaaaaaarceeeeeeey πŸ˜‰

It’s a good idea to get up in the morning and put on your school clothes. I think Molly had decided to do the same thing. It puts you more in the right mood for doing your school work. Then you can change back into normal clothes once your school work is all finished!

I’d love to see a photo of your pea plant if you can email it to me. I imagine that it looks similar to our bean plants that we grew at this time last year. Eva has planted a sunflower and is going to do a science project ‘observing over time’ to watch and record it’s growth. It’s something we’d have been doing this term at school if everything had stayed normal. You could try the same with your pea plant. I wonder if a pea plant grows taller than a sunflower or the other way round?!

      Have a good Monday Darcey,
      Miss Johnson πŸ™‚

  31. Eva cail says:

Hi missj i am having fun at home.

    • vjohnson says:

  32. Joshua Archibald says:

Hi this is Joshua speaking today I have took Milo?? for a stroll around park it was fun I held his lead. We have had Milo for 2 weeks now he is very nippy I love him❀❀❀❀❀.When we went to the park we saw an Akita ? and a whippet ? called Milly. Last week for work we only had to do p.e with Joe reading and times table rockstars and then we had the day of it has been a bit stressful because it is around 8 hours less to see are mum .But it has been a bit happy because of Milo.

    • vjohnson says:

      Happy 1st of June Joshua!

Welcome to the new half term of home learning.

Thank you for your message. It sounds like you’re having loads of fun with Milo and learning more about other dogs as well. Did you know that George March has got a new dog too? I think that his might be an Akita. Have you managed to train Milo to do many things yet or is he still a bit young for learning?

What books are you enjoying reading at the moment? Well done for keeping up with practicing your reading and your times tables. This week is the start of the Jungle Book topic in English. Do you know the story?

You must miss your mum a lot now that she’s working more. You’re usually at school so you don’t notice that she’s out at work all day as you’re usually having fun at school. I’m sure your mum misses spending lots of time at home with you too, but it makes it extra special when you do get to see her. And your dad must be loving spending so much time with you and Jayden.

I’ll try and phone you later this week for a catch up.

      Miss Johnson πŸ™‚

It sounds like Milo is really keeping you busy and keeping you on your toes!! Are you finding that it’s quite tiring looking after him and taking him for lots of walks?
I’m sure your mum will love her buffet! What are you including in it?
I bet you’re looking forward to getting your hair cut by your mum! Do you think she’ll cut it really short? You’ve had very short/ shaved hair before I think but I might be wrong.
What do you think you’ll order from Dessert King? I bet whatever you get will be yummy and you’ll look forward to them knocking on the door with your delivery!

      Miss Johnson

      • vjohnson says:

Josh – I’ve set you your 4x table on TT Rockstars too. I don’t know if you’ve learnt it yet, but it’s a new challenge for you and I know you’re whizzing through your other times tables now and getting a ridiculously high number of right answers so you’re definitely ready for the next level up now πŸ™‚

You are the best teacher in the world????? really you are I really like you being are teacher for two years now.

  36. vjohnson says:

    Hi Joshua,

Oooo chocolate flapjack sounds delicious! I bet you’ll eat it all up very quickly! Make sure you keep Milo out of the kitchen πŸ˜‰
Today I am in school with a class of 13 Key Worker children. We have done our maths this morning and now we’re doing some DT. Ivan is in today and says “Hello” to you :-). The maths is tricky this week because it’s to do with money and finding different totals and finding the difference between 2 amounts. Persevere with it and I’m sure your dad will help you if you get stuck.
That’s exciting that it’s your Nana’s birthday at the weekend. I’m sure she’ll be really looking forward to you visiting her and spending some time with her in her garden. It will make her birthday a lot more special as I’m sure she’s missing you a lot.
I miss our class lots and lots and LOTS too. I will make sure I visit you to say lots of hellos once you’re in Year 3. I’ve loved teaching you too. πŸ™‚
    Miss Johnson

  37. Joshua Rio Archibald says:

  38. vjohnson says:

    Hi Josh,

Yes I can swipe on my Samsung phone to write messages. I find it so much faster.
Did you have a lovely weekend celebrating your Nanna’s birthday? What did you do for it?
We had a half day of work at school on Friday too. We watched a film in the afternoon. It was a calm end to the week.

    Have a great Monday,
    Miss Johnson πŸ™‚

  39. Joshua Rio Archibald says:

Yes thanks I did have a good celebration we had a pizza affair takeaway what did you watch on Friday. Everyday I accidently go on the wrong blog . The English is so fun so far I think the peacock is the best one but I do think the cobra one is going to be the best. I can’t wait for father’s Day? on Saturday Iam doing cricket training at the old mods with my dad and brother.

    • vjohnson says:

      Hi Josh,
I’m very glad that you had a good celebration at the weekend. What topping did you get on your pizza? I think you said you’d get Margherita – am I right?
At school we watched The Lorax by Dr Seuss on Friday afternoon. Do you know it? Everyone enjoyed it.
I’m so pleased that you’re enjoying the English. Miss Slaney has been in charge of planning all the English so I’ll pass your positive comments on to her. I spoke to Daniel T on the phone today and he said that he can’t wait for Thursday’s English because a King Cobra is his favourite animal.
You sound like you have some great plans for father’s day. Your dad will really enjoy playing cricket with you.
I spoke to Albie today and he said that you saw each other up at Holt Park tennis courts. That was nice that you saw each other. Were you both up there playing tennis with your families?
      Miss J πŸ™‚

  40. Joshua Rio Archibald says:

Hi I don’t no the movie ?? but I do now d.r seuss her also made the story green eggs? and ham I love that story in your classroom do you read stories? On my pizza? I had ham it was a lovely pizza in lockdown have you had a takeaway I have had it along. In the tennis courts we had a little chat.

  41. vjohnson says:

    Hi Josh,
I like ham pizzas too. If I go to an Italian restaurant I will often order the ham and mushroom pizza. I’ve had a few pizzas during Lockdown to be honest. I wanted to support the restaurants near me so that they can stay open after lockdown, so it was a good excuse for takeaway pizza!
Yes that’s right – Dr Seuss did write Green Eggs and Ham. He also wrote The Grinch which I’m sure you know.
I started to read a story to the key worker class in school last week about a little boy who has a pet dragon. We’ve only read a few chapters so far though.
What have you been doing on this very rainy Thursday?
    Miss Johnson πŸ™‚

  42. Joshua Rio Archibald says:

Hi this is Joshua speaking here. Today it is meant to thunderstorm .Yesterday I went in my massif paddling pool me and my brother went in it and we play fight. What are you doing today? On Monday I helped make a indian tea which included chaphatti , nann bread , curry , popadums and chutney. Yesterday i met up with Toby at a field and we played football , rugby , frisbie it was so fun.Last Satuday I went to go to the old mods and played cricket with my dad, grandad, brother I got my dad out once .

  43. Miss Johnson says:

    Hi Joshua,

Did you enjoy the big Thunderstorm on Friday evening? I watched it out of my window. I love watching big tropical storms like that – very impressive.
You’re lucky to have a massive paddling pool in your garden. It was definitely the weather for a paddling pool. I’ve been in school this week and we were very hot!
Your Indian meal sounds yummy. I didn’t like much Indian food when I was your age but I love it now. We tasted lots of Indian food in school too and Ivan loved it but Charlotte wasn’t so sure.
I’m so pleased that you met up with Toby and had fun playing with him. I hope that cheered you up a lot and left you both with big smiles on your faces πŸ™‚ .
Congratulations on getting your dad out at cricket too! What have you been up to this rainy weekend?

    Miss Johnson πŸ™‚

  44. Joshua Rio Archibald says:

It is is Joshua speaking. No, I did not watch the thunderstorm but I did hear it , it was loud that is for sure. I love the paddling pool because it is the right size for me because when I lay in it 3 more people can fit in. What have you been doing this week in school? This week we are baking a cake??? because it is my dad and mum’s anniversary for 10 years and I am going to be the chef for a day which will be fun. What are you doing this week?

  45. vjohnson says:

    Hi Joshua,

Being chef and baking a cake for your mum and dad’s 10 year anniversary sounds great Josh! What type of cake do you think you’ll make? Will you decorate it with 10 candles on the top?
Miss Slaney is in school with the Key Worker children this week. They’ve done their maths and English work each day and they’ve done the Bollywood dancing activity from the topic work. They were also painting this afternoon.
I’ve been in school sorting out and labeling the PE cupboard by the car-park door. It’s lovely and neat now so I hope it stays that way. I’ve also started to get ‘our’ classroom ready for next year’s class so it’s been quite sad taking down all your names from your trays and your pegs etc πŸ™

    Miss Johnson πŸ™‚

  46. Eliza says:

Morning I think on the 2nd maths question on the math sheet called temperature is the answer wrong because I think it might be 5 . ? From Eliza

  47. vjohnson says:

    Hi Eliza,
Yes I think it should be 5. I haven’t looked at the answer sheet but I’m sure the answer is 5. Well spotted!

    Miss J πŸ™‚

  48. Mrs Baker says:

    Dear 2S and 2J ,

Well what a different school year we have had , one I’m sure you will tell your children all about !!
Even in our short school year we managed to pack in lots of fun . Great fire of London , Beatrix Potter , A Christmas Carol and Chicks.
I know from Miss Slaney and Miss Johnson you have also had fun writing about Charlie and the chocolate Factory and India .
I’m sure you will remember all the facts you have learned . I’m sorry we won’t get to say goodbye to you but I just wanted to wish you a Happy and Healthy Summer , Hope it is filled with lots of fun, laughter and love . Don’t forget to say hello when you are in Year 3.
    Lots of Love
