Sophie, Sophie, Sophie, it works. I tested it, I checked the web address I had written, I held my breath and counted to ten then pushed the go button. My one piece of advice would be to triple check that the web address you have typed in is the same one on the slides. I shall take a break from technology after this week- we’re not getting on prticularly well.

Hello there. Were trying to get the film to work which is a windows .WMV file, but the computer doesn’t like it. Is there any way of it being a.mov or .mp4 file?
I’m really sorry, I’ve been on the laptop trying to convert it. I don’t have Windows Movie Maker to be able to convert it to a .mov file which is very frustrating. I will continue to work on it and see if I can try something else.

On the stuff that you gave me today Mr O there is a couple of questions answered wrong by you. It was on the big sheet about multiplying and dividing by 10,100 & 1000. So I gave myself the answer right anyway once it was checked on a calculator.
That’s fine Matt well done for checking. If you read the comments on here you’ll definitely see I don’t always get it right. I have also given you some stuff that won’t be on the website so do that whenever you like.

Hi there. All of the work on the year 5 site is designed to be done without having to print out. The best way would be to just write the answers down from the screen. If that’s not possible, give school a ring tomorrow and whoever is in (not me I’m afraid) can try and sort it for you. Hope this helps.
Just to add to this, the maths work can be done without printing also. Just write the answers down on a piece of paper and if it involves measuring angles, just leave the questions. Hope this helps 🙂

I’m doing the decimal sequence maths, on the ‘hardest’ questions I’m look at question j) on the last 3 numbers shouldn’t the first one be 2.3 and the second one, 1 and the last one 0.3 so that you can do it in 7’s?

On today’s English the first set of questions, number 3 already has the commas in is this correct.
The commas are supposed to be there, Anna. The instructions say to add commas but it should say add or remove commas. On that one you need to remove the comma or commas to change the meaning.

Looks like the answer to that could be lots of numbers.
If you use 5 as your number to divide by, then any number between 500 and 600 that end in either 4 or 9 will have a remainder of 4 when
divided by 5!

Hi guys this is Jayden here. Sorry I haven’t been putting anything on the comments page but now I am so it is fine. Every Friday we have been doing a 5.O zoom chat. As well, there was one lesson where we found out what was in a plug socket and there are 3 (sometimes 2) wires called live, neutral and earth. Live is brown neutral is blue and earth is yellow and green. We have also been sauldering which is basically putting pieces of metal together then they are unbreakable not even the strongest man in the world could break it! I have been keeping up with the Sally up challenge and I am getting much stronger ?.Hope to see you all soon miss u all from Jayden.???

Hi Millie. It’s great that you have written your ideas down. You need to write your application in an email and send it to myself and Mr Osborn using the Year 5 email address. Is that ok? If you want to ask anything else, please do, I’m happy to help you as much as you need. The most important part of your application will be to make sure you have a good idea. Really think about your idea, make sure it is low cost/free and it will be something that will make a difference to the lives of the people of Leeds.

So there are 170 sweets but we know that Bart has more than Homer. So give Bart a bigger bar.
Bart: ==================================I===========26========== (We cut Bart’s bar at the point Homer’s ends because we know he has 26 more).
Homer ==================================
So we do 170 – 26 = 144 (But this 144 is now for Homer and Bart’s equal bars), so we have to share it (divide it) by 2. So 144 ÷ 2 = 72.
I now know Homer has 72. Bart has 72 plus the 26 more than Homer, so 72 + 26 = 98.

For question 8 in today’s White Rose maths, does C=24 rather than 28??
Hi Harry, Mr O here. The answer 24 is ALSO correct, although the answer they’ve given is also plausible.
If you make A = 7 and B = 6, you get
3/7(A) = 6(B)/14 = 12/28(C) which are all equivalent as well.

Hi Taha, thank you for getting in touch. This was a very hard question – the best way I found to solve it was by trying different numbers. I would start with the star, because there are 2 of them, and then see if you can get close. Then you can work out the triangle from there. Do not worry too much though; this is a very hard question.

If it were 3/7 x 7 it would equal 3.
White Rose maths problems today – putting different fractions in order. Usually we do it by finding a common denominator, but there isn’t one for question 6a or 6d. Should we just be using diagrams ?

Hi Lily, there is a method. The first thing to do is to look at the very last number of the target number, which is a one. Now look at the numbers you can use to make your target number. When I multiply 3 and 7 I get 21. This makes me think that whatever number i use, it will have a 7 at the end of one number and a 3 at the end of the other number. The next thing to think about is doing some estimating. What i want you to do now is to do some estimating. Choose a starting number, for example: 87 and 523. I can estimate what this will equal without doing the full calculation just by rounding. If i round 87 to 90 and 523 to 500 i can do an easier multiplication, so it would be 90 x 500 which you can do easily, 45,000. That number is way bigger than your target number and you know it is wrong, so try again. Let me know how you get on.

It’s true Sophie. You need to make up for lost time so you’ll have to work 7 days a week to catch up. Not everyone, just you. That’s not a fake note, your Dad had to travel to London overnight for that….I think 😉
Hi Jayden here. Our new dog Milo is settling into our house very well and as I am writing this he is taking my slippers off my feet! On Sunday we had a street party where basically our whole street stay 2 metres but just talk to each other for like 2 1/2 hours or so.

His training is king really well because he now knows sit, paw and come. I have been really enjoying the sun we have got over the past few days. On Saturday I had a BBQ and it was really yummy!

How do we do 3363 / 95? we have a method based on multiplying but it takes ages.
You don’t need to work it our to answer it Josh! You can still answer the question because you have been given information for that question already. You can actually answer the question just from looking at the numbers. Think about the calculation at the top- this question is really about dividing or multiplying by 10/100/1000 and knowing your inverse operations. Have another go and let me know how you get on.
Hi everybody Jayden here. Milo (my dog) has been really busy for the last couple of days and he has been biting me and my family but I don’t blame him because he doesn’t know that he isn’t allowed to do it so that’s why we have to train him…alot. He absolutely loves going on walks and we take him like twice a day sometimes. During the weekend my mum is going to give me and my brother a hair cut because my hair is really really really looking and it hasn’t been cut for a very long time. For some reason I always where my hat inside outside rainy days and sunny days but definitely not when I go to sleep. I have been doing P.E with Joe but not live because we have to time it perfectly for when Milo is tired so we do it when he is tired because then he doesn’t disturb us. Normally when we do exercise and we are doing sit ups or an exercise that is low he always licks our hair and it really tickles!

Hi everyone Jayden here. How is everyone doing? I had my haircut on Saturday and it looks much better now and my brother had a haircut by my dad and my mum didn’t like it, so my mum did my brother’s hair differently by fading it. For tea my brother mum and dad are having home made ? for and I am having ?. Yesterday I went to the mods to play cricket with my dad for 50 minutes by our selves and my dad is really good I got him out once and nearly every time he absolutely smacked it so far!

On Wednesday we baked chocolate orange flapjacks and they tasted really good.We put extra sugar in it because we didn’t have the right amount of chocolate orange so that is why we used more sugar to make it sweeter. On Sunday, I might be seeing my Nanna and Grandad but still staying 2 metres because it is my Nanna’s birthday so if the weather is good they will be coming to our house to celebrate in the garden.

Hi everyone Jayden here. How is everyone doing? I am doing just fine. Apparently this week is going to be really hot so on Wednesday which apparently is going to be the hottest day this week we are going to have a BBQ ?I absolutely hate the sun when it is really hot that is why every time it is really sunny I sit in the shade. I have just finished my topic on computing and it was really fun. I have seen tomorrow’s topic and I am really glad it is art because I love drawing! I did the butterfly cycle on PowerPoint and it looks really good.

We would not be doing matches or tackling we are probably doing like excersise or fitness training. Last Saturday I went to the Old Mods with my brother, my dad and my grandad to play cricket ? and we are doing the same this Sunday. Hi everybody, Jayden here. Like you said Mr.O I heard that Leeds won on Saturday but my dad isn’t a Leeds fan and he has been watching all the Arsenal games and my Grandad is the Leeds fan in our family. I haven’t done any of my work yet but as soon as i have finished this comment i will be starting it. Yesterday I went to cricket with my dad and Grandad and my Grandad told me he used to play cricket when he was younger and when he bowled he always spun the ball and he is still really good at spinning now as well. On Wednesday we are baking my mum and Dad’s 10 year anniversary white chocolate and almond cake. At football training, there were a couple of people I didn’t know but they weren’t in my group. In my group there was: me, James, Freddie, Lucas, Lucas’ little brother (Samuel) and Lucas’ dad who was our coach for our group.
