Year 6 Peat Rigg Blog Day Two

The day began with the tired faces of children who hadn’t realised what lights out meant. However, credit where it is due they were up bright and early, raring to go!

First stop, breakfast. A whole host of cereal plus a cooked breakfast with ample amounts of toast, they were fuelled for the day.

It was an action-packed day of activities today which consisted of: bush craft, where we learnt how to survive in the wilderness; low ropes, some assault course fun; high zip wire, soaring through the trees; archery, where we became true Robin Hoods and Meridas and Jacob’s Ladder where we climbed high into the sky.

Once the activities were done, it was tea time. For food we had a delicious BBQ outside with a choice of burgers, veggie burgers, sausage, veggie sausage and much more. It was the next bit of energy we needed to get us through our evening activities.

The evening consisted of night line and team games. The weather suddenly changed from sun to heavy rain for the night line; this caused absolute confusion when the blindfolds came off and there didn’t seem to be a drop of rain in sight. There’s rumours circulating it was squirrels, others think the teachers had something to do with it- rumours is all they could say!

The team games were fantastic and epitomised exactly what our teachers had been saying about how far we had come with working together. It was an impressive showing!

After the evening activities had finished, we showered, packed our suitcases in preparation for tomorrow and came down for supper. A glass of hot chocolate and a bun was on tonight’s menu- yum!

The teachers came around for room inspection and were extremely impressed with the cleanliness and how well packed we were- they never even found our secret sweet stash, shhh!

Room inspection complete, it was time to settle down for our final night at Peat Rigg. I’m sure it’ll be another quiet night…
