Message from your new teachers

Hello and welcome to Year Three!

We’re really looking forward to welcoming you to year 3 and getting to know you all.

We’ve set lots of different transition activities for you to complete so we can get to know you a little better. There are lots of tasks to complete over the next few weeks including a range of writing, number and creative skills. Take a look below to see all of the activities you can do! We’d love to see any work that you complete! So please send it to: year_3@holytrinity.leeds.sch.uk once you’ve finished.

We know that moving to a new class can be a little bit scary, especially this year as most of us have been away for so long. We are really looking forward to meeting you all in September but if you have any questions you would like to ask us before we start then you can use the comments link at the top of the page or e-mail us on year three address.

We hope you have a lovely summer and look forward to seeing you in September.

Mr Wilkinson and Miss Russell

Learning Log Task

Our first topic in Year 3 is Adventurers and Explorers. Your task is to research and make a fact file about a famous explorer of your choice.

You might want to include:

  • The name and a picture of the explorer
  • Where they explored to
  • Why they are famous
  • Some interesting facts about their life

Happy researching and remember to let us know if you have any questions.  We look forward to seeing your finished piece in September.

Other Transition Activities

Key Things to be Practising Ready for Year Three

Dear Parents/Carers,

We’re excited to welcome your children to Year 3!

Transition is looking slightly different this year but we have provided lots of activities for your children to complete at home which will help with their move to year 3. Below are a few additional suggestions for children to complete over the summer in order to consolidate key skills and knowledge ready for September:

  • To continue regular reading (leaflets, books, newspapers, brochures etc…)
  • Spelling practise (days of the week, months, numbers)
  • Cursive joined handwriting practise (writing diaries, shopping lists, postcards etc…)
  • Practise times tables using TT Rockstars, Hit the button and Maths Frame
  • Children will be expected to complete a learning log task linked to our Autumn 1 topic Adventurers and Explorers.

If you would like any further support or guidance with the activities, or how else best to support your child, please contact us via email: year_3@holytrinity.leeds.sch.uk and we will be able to answer any questions you may have.

Enjoy your summer and we will see you in September.

Mr Wilkinson, Miss Russell and the year 3 team.
