Robinwood 2022

Here we are everyone.  We made it to the end of the day in one piece, just! We have some very tired children in our midst.

After arriving at 10:50, our first task was to walk the mile+ up to the castle, which involved a leisurely walk along the canal side followed by a punishing 40 degree incline up the steep hill.  There were lots of enthusiastic but already exhausted legs and lungs before we’d even unpacked!

The highlight of everyone’s day (teachers)- choosing our food for the week. Lasagne, scampi and chips, sausages and mash, vegetable tart, cheese and onion pie, chicken tikka…what’s not to like?

We were shown to our dorms and got ourselves unpacked before the action really began.  There was a lot of jealousy when I announced that my room had a tv, tea/coffee making facilities, ensuite and a view. Again, what’s not to like?

Kit bags in hand, we made our way to the meeting courtyard. Helmets on, harnesses strapped, water bottles filled and off we went.  Volcano and Lava group dived head first into the Piranha Pool where they battled the puzzles to escape the vicious flesh-eaters; Dune and River group battled their fears on the zipline;  Desert group fought against the powers of gravity in the crate challenge to see who could get the highest.  Other activities included: archery, Knights Tale, challenge course and climbing.

The day ended with all of us reconvening in the meeting room for the Team Challenge.  The teachers team came out on top, we say…but the children say we came last, but I can’t understand how that could be.

Hot chocolates all round then back to our dorms.  By the amount of bleary eyes around the room, the children were definitely ready for bed, as are the teachers.

Goodnight, from all of the Year 5 team.
